Since 1985 Beacon Equity Advisors has represented hundreds of business owners in the sale of their Manufacturing, Distribution or Service Companies these owners have built, nurtured and grown over a working lifetime. Our team approach, combined with our boutique philosophy, results in Beacon selling more of the businesses it represents than almost any other advisor in the country.
Beacon's boutique view towards the sale of business has three prongs:
First - We accept only companies we believe we can help. We walk away from several opportunities a week as we look for companies that fit with our areas of experience and expertise. Understanding your business well, what makes your business profitable, and the role your company plays in the marketplace, enables Beacon to represent you well and bring you greater value.
Second – We make sure no Beacon broker is the lead team member on more than four deals at one time. You are trusting Beacon with one of the most valuable assets you have. This sale needs to be front and center of that brokers' mind every day. We believe four deals is the right amount of client focus allowing the broker to devote 40 hours a month on your business. A broker with 20 deals on his plate can only spend eight hours a month on the sale of your company. Eight hours is not enough to consistently move a deal forward.
Third – We know our marketplace – we know the entrepreneurial buyers and corporate buyers within our space. We can offer our clients advice with assurance when we suggest they accept a deal, and when we advise they walk away, confident we can find them a better buyer.

- Knowing who to talk to, how much to say, what to disclose and when, how to maintain confidentiality, and when to walk away. This knowledge is not written in any text book, it is not taught in college or seminars, it is a skill Beacon's brokers have honed buyer after buyer, deal after deal, over three decades to represent business owners well today.
- It is easy to list a business for sale, the work comes in selling the business. Beacon sells the companies we list, we do not take every business, for that matter we accept only the businesses where Beacon can bring value.
- Sometimes we work with business owners several years before they come to market to prepare the business for sale. We look for potholes and work with their Accountants and Lawyers to fill them creating value. We look for areas which cause buyers to be nervous and find ways to make this aspect of the business less risky. We look for areas of the marketplace where buyers are paying premiums and work with the business owners to emphasize this aspect of the business. - Ever try to get the 17 people over your house for Thanksgiving to agree on one movie to see after dinner? It can be like herding cats, yet this is a typical Beacon deal and where we excel. Knowing how to work with the 17 (on average) personalities, goals and ambitions that are involved in a typical deal, from the buyers and sellers, accountants, and lawyers on each side, to the bankers and equity funds each with an objective and a role to play, it a critical part of bringing a business from the listing stage to the closing room table.
- There’s an App for that: We wish – Apps are great and we love them – but not for your business. Your business is unique and thus the approach Beacon needs to take to successfully market your business also needs to be unique. We are not trying to create an app used by thousands, but to conduct a sale of your business to the one right buyer who sees real value in what you have built.
